Treatment Information

Pre-Care

Before your treatment

Review these pointers to ensure your visit goes as smoothly as possible

  • Avoid sun exposure to the area to be tattooed, as sunburn or even a tan can affect the tattoo's outcome.
  • Do not drink alcohol or take any blood-thinning medications for at least 24 hours before the appointment to avoid excessive bleeding during the procedure.
  • Get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy meal prior to the appointment to reduce the risk of dizziness, nausea, or fainting during the tattooing process.
  • Wear comfortable and appropriate clothing that will allow easy access to the tattoo site and won't rub against the new tattoo.
  • If you have any medical conditions, allergies, or are taking any medications, inform your tattoo artist before the appointment to ensure that it is safe for you to proceed with the tattoo.

Aftercare

After your treatment

Follow these important tips to get the most from your treatment

  • Keep the area clean and dry: Avoid touching or rubbing the tattoo with dirty hands or clothing. Gently clean the area with mild soap and water, pat dry with a clean towel.
  • Apply ointment: Apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment or lotion recommended by your tattoo artist on the tattooed area.
  • Avoid sun exposure: Direct sunlight and UV rays can cause damage to the tattoo and slow down the healing process. Keep the tattoo covered or avoid sun exposure for at least a couple of weeks.
  • Avoid submerging in water: Avoid soaking the tattooed area in water, including swimming, hot tubs, and saunas, for at least 2-3 weeks. Showering is okay but keep the water temperature lukewarm.
  • Don't scratch or pick: The tattooed area may itch or scab during the healing process. Avoid scratching or picking at the scabs as this can cause scarring or damage the tattoo.
  • Be patient: The healing process can take up to several weeks. Be patient and let your body heal naturally, don't rush the process or expose the tattoo to unnecessary risks.
